About Eric

Eric has been a competitive athlete all his life. He ran track and cross-country at Indiana University, and has raced in multisport events since 1989, spending several years as a professional athlete.

ErIc is a USA Triathlon certified coach. He authored the duathlon training sections in USA Triathlon's Level 1 and 2 certification classes,and has written articles for Inside Triathlon, Triathlete Magazine, and AmericanTri.

Eric coaches athletes of all levels who compete in triathlon, duathlon, running, and other endurance events.

Athletes that Eric has coached include:
• Several first time Ironman finishers and Ironman Hawaii qualifiers
• More qualifiers for the Duathlon World Championships than any other coach
• Multiple age group World Champions and medalists
• The top American finisher at Powerman Zofingen in 2001 (long course)

During his career as a duathlete and triathlete, Eric achieved several highlights:
• Won the US Duathlon National Championship in 2004
• 18th & 23rd place finishes at the 2002 & 2003 short course Duathlon World Championships
• Duathlon age group World Champion in 1997
• Three Ironman Hawaii finishes, with a best time of 9:24 and an Ironman marathon best of 2:55:20
• 8th place finish at Ironman Wisconsin with a time of 9:19
• Two Top 10 finishes at Buffalo Springs Half Ironman. Set run course record—1:16:37 (since broken)
• Five time Inside Triathlon age group All-American [duathlon (4) and triathlon (1)]
• Eric was known as one of the fastest runners amongst professional duathlete/triathletes
• 5k pr of 14:43 and 10k pr of 30:37
• USCF Category 2 cyclist for the Jamba Juice cycling team

In addition to coaching and racing, Eric is the founder of Duathlon.com, a website with daily triathlon and duathlon news. He has also served on the USA Triathlon Board of Directors and the USAT Athletes' Advisory Council. He graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Business (accounting). He worked as a CPA in the Audit Division of Arthur Andersen for five years before moving to Boulder.
